Why does my house need cavity wall insulation?

If you only choose one type of insulation for your house, make it cavity wall insulation. It's the best way to significantly reduce the energy needed to heat your home, and offers potential annual fuel savings of up to £160.

What exactly is cavity wall insulation?

In most residential buildings constructed after the 1920s, the external walls are made of two layers of bricks with a small air gap or ’cavity’ between them. Cavity wall insulation involves filling this gap with a special mineral fibre that reduces the amount of heat that can escape through the walls.

What materials are used?

We use a white wool product made from silica sand. It will not cause dampness, it's completely safe and the whole installation is backed by a 25-year CIGA guarantee covering materials and workmanship.

Is cavity wall insulation simple to install?

Yes. The insulating material is blown in through a sequence of holes drilled from outside the property. In some cases, we may also need to install core vents in your exterior walls, but in general the whole job takes less than half a day.
